St Peters Garden Centre in Worcester in partnership with the Norton Worcestershire Regiment Group opened a community garden commemorating soldiers from the Worcestershire Regiment on Thursday 16th July 2015.
The event was attended by local dignitaries and many military representatives as well as children from the local Norton-Juxta-Kempsey First School, following a competition. The focus for the competition was on designing a garden that would commemorate the Norton Barracks and the soldiers of the Worcestershire Regiment and was part of a 4 year programme of education and information projects. The winning design was then transformed into a special garden built at St. Peter’s Garden Centre.
As part of the celebrations St Peters had also created a super display of cast iron poppy bird feeders which are being sold to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. “We are hoping to raise £8,000 for the poppy appeal, £2 from each one we sell is being donated to this wonderful charity, and we are well on target to raise the £8000 with the continued support of our wonderful customers” said Will Blake, General Manager of St Peters Garden Centre.
