Not only do we stock a famous and comprehensive cheese selection, we support our local suppliers by providing fresh local milk, and local free range eggs from Clay Hill Farm, which we also use in all our freshly prepared dishes in the coffee shop
Our comprehensive cheese range is supplied by local cheesemonger Anstey’s, Cheltenham Cheese and the world famous Cheese Cellar. Our cheeses are available to suit any taste and preference.
Hard Cheeses
Our most popular Category is always full of a wide selection of specialist Cheddars. We offer a wide range from Montgomery’s Cheddar, which is a traditional farmhouse cheddar, tasty, crumbly and 18 months old and is described as the “perfect cheddar” to the complex flavour of Godminster, which is rich and creamy, and famous for its unique taste.
Blue Cheeses
We stock a mixture of the very best from the UK and international. Simply the best Blue cheese has to be “Blue Stilton” and we only buy the best, “Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton” is the best in the world, rich, creamy and a wonderful flavour, nothing else compares. We also offer a variety of specialist blue’s like Perl Las from Wales, which is a organic, full flavoured and delightfully creamy, and have you tried our “Mountain Gorgonzola” from Italy, simply stunning, rich and creamy.
Soft Cheeses
We stock famous “Brie de Meaux” - Unlike ordinary brie, Brie de Meaux can only be made in a certain area in the Ile-de-France near Paris where it has kept its rural tradition and its hand-crafted production. The big, round, soft cheese has a velvet white mould rind, which changes to a reddish hue during the ripening process. It has a slight bitter taste that if left to unfold, develops into a completely soft, and very aromatic flavour. We also offer local specialities like “Lightwood chaser”, that is soft and tangy, as recommended by Rick Stein.
Goats & Ewes
As well as stocking the full range of traditional Cheeses, we also stock very specialist and rare Blue Goats Cheese “Harbourne Blue” and Blue Ewes Cheese “Beenleigh Blue”.
Flavoured & International
From the very best “Parmigiano Reggiano” to Gruyere, and our fantastic 18 month Gouda we stock the very best of international cheese. For that unique difference we also stock a full range of Local flavoured Cheese from “Hobsons Ale & Mustard”, “Worcester Sauce and Shallot” and our famous “Hereford Hop” we have it all.
